Reality

Sure, it exists in Prague, too, despite the fairy tale ambience. But seriously, if you see a sign that says REALITY in the city center, what it actually means is REAL ESTATE, and it’s as hot a topic as any these days – especially for the thousands of foreigners who come here each year, fall in love with the place, and end up staying. (Could this be you??) Even if you don’t want to spend the rest of your life here, now is an excellent time to invest in property in the city center. Prague is the most touristy city in Central Europe, and that’s not likely to change anytime soon. If you own a flat in the city center, you can easily rent it out on a short-term or long-term basis – it can be quite profitable.

Of course it’s not as easy as we make it sound. In order to purchase property in the Czech Republic, you either have to have a long-term residency visa (these are notoriously hard to get) or set up your own limited liability company, which will require the help of a good lawyer.

Still not discouraged? If you’re seriously thinking of investing in real estate, this portal is a good place to start http://prague.tv/realestate/. Some real estate agents specialize in helping expatriates acquire property; the best of these is probably Happy House Rentals www.happyhouserentals.com.
