Zoo

Gorillas, penguins, kangaroos, giraffes, lions, tigers, parrots, wolves, hyenas and elephants – oh my. It’s the Prague Zoo. And although it’s experienced some hard times lately – it was severely effected by the flooding in 2002, to the extent that some animals escaped and others had to be put down – the Prague Zoo has made an awesome comeback. Originally built in 1931, the Zoo was a run-down, dilapidated shambles by the time of the Velvet Revolution. Thankfully, it was renovated shortly afterwards in order to allow for a more humane space for its inhabitants. There’s a footbridge connecting the Zoo to Stromovka Park, so a walk through the park makes for an excellent way of prolonging the day’s visit.
